“There are more instances of the abridgment of the freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments of those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations.”
— James Madison, speech to the Virginia Ratifying Convention, June 16, 1788
As a patriot, and believer that liberty and freedoms are worth defending, I cannot remain silent as I witness the encroachment on these freedoms by the Rhode Island legislature. False propaganda, catastrophic terrorist crimes against humanity, and mob mentality has created an atmosphere where society is willing to give up their freedoms for the illusion protection. After decades of government interference and constant regulation, the role of government is now flipped, and we have lost sight that we the people control government.
The United States Constitution, and specifically the Bill of Rights was written and adopted by those that understood the dangers of a government with no limits on their authority to rule society. Now, because of fear, misinformation, and lack of education, society has been moving further and further away from the America that I know and love to one that I barely recognize. In the Rhode Island General Assembly, legislation has passed that circumvents due process, negates the innocent until proven guilty supposition, and erroneously punishes law abiding citizens for horrific acts caused by those that have no regard for life or the law.
Punishing those that have nothing to do with a crime does nothing to prevent that crime from happening again.
I am running for Rhode Island State Senate 11 because I believe that the current and past administrations have been running away with our liberties and our wallets, and it needs to stop! Our children and society are not safer today because of the recent anti-constitutional, knee jerk, feel good legislation that is a direct attack on our constitutional rights. Nothing was done to ensure that our children can go to school and learn without fear of a mass shooting. I will work to provide real solutions and ensure that the freedoms and liberties guaranteed in the U.S. Constitution are protected.
